his name is temporal, until i find one i like better xD (i suck at giving names to characters, always think they don't suit them)
he's a Huet-huet (Pteroptochos tarnii) and, besides Pakasqa (the Monito del monte), he's one of the two close buddies of Firkü. these birds are everywhere around my area, if you get into the forest you'll hear it for sure, sometimes even in urban areas. and althought certainly being heard mroe often than seen, i personally managed to see them quite a few times ^^; maybe because i know where to look for them, lol. it might be as well often misrecognized as, since ithey're generally scratching the ground, below dense vegetation, so one sees them *black* when they're not.

"Llaitun" means "lookout" in Mapuche (mapudungun) and he's actually a minor character from Awka.

practising LC characters lately has motivated me alot to stop being lazy and work in more elaborate character designs, i found the fun of it. see? fangirling is good!:D
oh yep, i told you i was going to add a detailed bg to the next (though this picture was started a good while ago, and was sitting unfinished)

Excellent work! I really like the colors and depth. I do have two objections though.

While I think it's quite clever to make the bird follow the shape of the stone in the background I think it emphasizes the stone too much. I want the bird to be the main focus — which it still is — but the stone demands too much attention.

Another concern I have is the shape of the branch the bird is standing on. The end is sharp which I find a bit odd, but the branch is also so thin that it doesn't prominently overlap the strawberry plant. From a distance it almost looks like part of the plant overlaps the branch.

The bird itself looks brilliant though. I like the cartoon style. In fact I'm not even sure it needs the details in the feathers on the back.

very glad you like the work on the bird :) and thanks muchly for the critiques, be sure they will be kept in mind next time.
hey, I appreciate all the comments you gave me, I genuinely do :).however, I hope by now my point remained clear, it's not such a big deal, I'd only prefer it if we had that option, that's all ^^. I still feel very weak as an artist, thus why the focus on art has such importance for me. I'm very glad that you like my work overall.

Well, I'm rather judgmental and too quick to draw conclusions myself and the fact that you went on about the statistics to me indicated you cared too much. If you would have like 3000 page views I would have said you're trying to hide the statistics so people don't see that not many people have visited your page but you're actually a lot more popular here on dA than I am, so my conclusion was that you just wanted people to forget about the statistics and focus on the art. I find that logical, but I honestly don't think people value the statistics to such extent that they would change their behavior.

No reason to feel weak as an artist, by the way. We both have plenty to improve on but I think that's part of the fun. I can't imagine one can reach a point where progress is no longer possible (apart from decline in health) but I would feel pretty awful if progress would stagnate. I'm glad that even when I look back at my work from a year ago I often feel I've improved a lot.

that's why one often needs to talk with the person before C; . eh, precissely. I don't feel I'm impopular at all (if I was, it would not be hard for me to keep up to day with my inbox ha ha), just that I'd rather not have the numbers on display.
it may be in part because I hardly forget a number (I have a scary memory for them, for a reason. I even remember phone numbers of childhood friends) thus quite often avoid looking at them.

oh, definitively :) if we were at the summit of the mountain, art wouldn't be any fun :)

thanks again! and sorry for the very belated replies.
